What is the difference between sage and plain green?
Grey. Sage is green with grey mixed into it, which drops the saturation and lets it behave like a neutral. Our wider green collection includes the deeper olives and botanical greens; this one is specifically the greyed, muted end.
What does sage go with?
Almost everything, which is why it has become the default for table linens. Cream, warm wood, terracotta, dusty rose and unglazed pottery all sit well against it.
Does it work at Christmas?
Better than a saturated green, which reads as decoration. Sage with red berries and candlelight gives a Christmas table without committing the linens to December.
