Woven placemats

Twill is a woven structure, which is where the diagonal texture and the vintage hand come from. Unlike a rattan or jute mat, it goes in the washing machine.

18" × 14", double-layer, hemmed with a white seam thread.

Frequently asked questions

Are these woven placemats?

Woven in the sense that matters for how they feel: cotton twill is a diagonal weave, which gives the surface texture and a slightly vintage hand. They are not basket-woven rattan or jute — the weave is in the cloth, not in the construction.

How do they compare to rattan or jute mats?

Softer, thinner, and washable, which rattan and jute are not. A woven-fibre mat traps crumbs in the weave and has to be shaken out; a twill mat goes in the machine at 30 °C.

Will the texture show through the print?

Yes, deliberately. Direct-to-fabric printing lets the weave read through the colour, which is what stops the mat looking like a photograph laid on a table.
